History and organisation
Padubidri Bunts Sangha is based in the coastal town of Padubidri in present-day Kapu taluk. An October 2025 Vijayavani report identifies 1983 as its founding year. Its public programmes bring together education, welfare, cultural activities and sport, with participation from women’s and youth sections.
Three names frequently appear together in event reports: Padubidri Bunts Sangha, Bunts Welfare Trust and the Sirimudi endowment or social welfare trust. They are named partners, rather than interchangeable names for the hall. The sangha’s Buntara Bhavana provides the setting for meetings and events, including programmes organised by other institutions.
Sirimudi assistance
Sirimudi is an important part of the association’s welfare work. At the October 2023 distribution programme, the fund’s founder described it as an initiative begun in 2005. The event combined education assistance with wider social support and recognition of community achievements. Its funding model brings together contributions from donors connected with Padubidri and other cities.
Reporting on the September 2024 programme described approximately Rs 15 lakh distributed through scholarships, support for widows and assistance to people with disabilities. It also explained that a permanent deposit supported the welfare programme through interest income. These are reported figures for that period, not a statement of the fund’s present balance or an assurance of individual eligibility.
Skills and employment
The sangha announced a one-day career development and entrepreneurship workshop for 25 August 2024 at Asha Prakash Shetty Sabhabhavana. It partnered with the Udupi Grameena Buntara charitable trust and its Skill Development Centre. The intended participants were young people and women, with sessions addressing both employment and self-employment.
The announced subjects included leadership, communication, interview preparation, women’s enterprise and banking support for businesses. This provides a more specific picture of the sangha’s educational role than scholarships alone: its programme also connected participants with practical questions about entering work and starting an enterprise.
Aati and community sport
The women’s section joined the sangha and Bunts Welfare Trust in organising Aatida Koota in 2023 at Buntara Bhavana. The gathering focused on the Aati season and domestic food traditions. It was a cultural programme through which families could discuss practices remembered from earlier generations.
A separate Kesarda Gobbu event in July 2023 brought the sangha, welfare trust, women’s section, youth section and sports section together for games in a muddy field at Adamaru. Field games and an indoor seasonal gathering were distinct activities, giving different age groups ways to participate.
The official gallery of Bunts’ Sangha Bangalore also records the Interstate Bunt Sports Meet 2024, MRG Trophy, at Padubidri on 29 December 2024. That partner record places the sangha within a wider network of community sporting events.
Buntara Bhavana
The premises have hosted religious and civic gatherings as well as sangha meetings. A March 2020 report records the installation of a figure of Nityananda at the sangha, with ceremonies and participation from local religious institutions.
In January 2024, an Adani Foundation programme used the open auditorium at Buntara Bhavana to distribute scholarships to students from surrounding gram panchayats. The foundation was the awarding organisation. The event illustrates the hall’s use by a wider local network without treating every programme held there as the sangha’s own scheme.
Development projects
Reports in 2025 described Sirimudi Credit Co-operative Society as a related initiative involving the sangha and its partner trusts. The cooperative is a distinct institution. The same reports discussed Buntashraya Kutumba Sevashrama, a proposed project for older members of the community at Yellur.
A December 2025 election report still described a forthcoming foundation ceremony for Buntashraya. The project therefore belongs to the sangha’s documented development plans; these reports do not establish a completed residential facility or an admissions service.
