The trust and its centre
The Udupi Grameena Buntara Sangha da Sabhabhavana Nirmana and Development Samithi Charitable Trust operates a Skill Development Centre in Kunthal Nagar, Manipura. The full name describes the development trust associated with the rural sangha. The centre occupies the first floor of Asha Prakash Shetty Convention Centre.
According to the trust’s official account, the centre was inaugurated on 13 October 2021. Its work focuses on rural students, young people and women, with training supported by donors and sponsors. It describes its courses as free of charge and connects skills training with entrepreneurship and access to employment.
Training programmes
The published programme list covers communication, leadership, career planning, interview skills, digital marketing and awareness of banking support and government schemes. The women’s entrepreneurship programme addresses business ideas, practical skills and information relevant to self-help groups and aspiring entrepreneurs.
Computer literacy is a separate strand. The centre records basic and advanced courses with MICE training and certification. Its 2022 record describes five one-month basic batches with twenty learners each. These details refer to that documented programme, rather than the timetable or capacity of every later batch.
The activity register also names collaborations with colleges in Shirva, Bantakal, Nitte and Manipal. Its entries distinguish degree, engineering, diploma and ITI participants, showing that the programme has worked across several educational routes.
Job fairs
The trust’s report of its 8 and 9 October 2022 job fair names twenty-four participating companies, including TCS, Manipal Technologies, Reliance and ICICI Prudential. It records more than 375 candidates shortlisted. Shortlisting is a recruitment stage, so that figure should not be read as a count of confirmed jobs.
The range of participants extended from SSLC and PUC candidates to graduates, technical students and people with professional qualifications. The fair provided a local meeting point between employers and rural applicants, complementing the centre’s preparation courses.
Recent public activity
In September 2026, organisers announced a fifth job fair and study-abroad expo with NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte. This continued the centre’s combination of career preparation and direct contact with institutions and employers. The official website is the institutional contact point for programme notices. The trust’s course activity is distinct from cultural gatherings organised by Udupi Grameena Buntara Sangha at the same campus.
